The Scottish Initiative for Biotechnology Education (SIBE)

Formed in 2002, the Scottish Initiative for Biotechnology Education (SIBE) develops and presents a wide range of science communication initiatives that improve engagement with biotechnology. Many aspects of biotechnology are integral to everyday life, such as food production and healthcare. The institute strives to provide interesting, high quality and relevant biotechnology programs that not only inform but also enthuse and engage the audience. Participants include post-16 school pupils, university postgraduate students, teachers and various groups within the general public. Some of the strategies and events run by SIBE are listed below:
